My CBC Radio debate on a campaign sign ban

Today I debated West Vancouver councillor Sharon Thompson on her motion, coming to council next Monday, to ban campaign signs from public property, starting in the 2030 election. I am against the motion for many reasons: no evidence of a problem, terrible timing, no staff report on the issue or consultation about it, an extra advantage for incumbents, self-interest in mayor and council deciding it, and exactly the opposite direction we need when we’re trying to increase civic engagement.
